Gov't ups micro-regions subsidy, launches operative programs

The Hungarian government will raise subsidies for micro-regional associations and launch regional operative programs from next year, Minister for Local Governments Mónika Lamperth told the press on Monday.

Regional operative programs for seven regions in Hungary will be allotted Ft 1.62 trillion (€6.27 billion) next year, Lamperth said. Micro-regional associations will receive Ft 18.3 billion (€70.8 million) in government subsidies in 2007. The allocation to fund local governments' share in EU co-financed project will be upped to 10.1 billion forints next year, Lamperth said.
