Hungary's government is ready to support big Hungarian companies strengthen their positions on foreign markets with the tools of economic diplomacy or even capital, National Economy Minister György Matolcsy said in Zagreb on Thursday, after the inauguration of a €350m shopping centre in the city by Hungarian developer TriGranit.
Citing examples of such companies, Matolcsy named TriGranit, OTP Bank, oil and gas company MOL, drug maker Richter and supermarket chain CBA.
Matolcsy promised Croatia Hungary's diplomatic support in its application for European Union accession. TriGranit's investment boosts Croatia's chance of joining the EU as it shows foreign investor confidence in the Croatian economy, he added.
Hungary's government supports the joint construction of infrastructure in the hydrocarbon industry and the area of electricity, Matolcsy said, mentioning a link for the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Croatia's Adriatic coast to Hungary. (MTI Econews)
