Hungary’s government plans to take over a "large part" of tasks currently performed at by the country's 19 counties to help whittle down their debt, business daily Világgazdaság reported, without citing a source.
The new municipality law, currently being drafted by the government, will leave development affairs within county authority, while loss-making tasks will be transferred to the central government, along with the subsidies which finance the counties, the newspaper said.
