The government introduced a bill setting up a National Land Fund to Hungary's Parliament on Tuesday.
Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas said the bill's main goal is to help establish viable family enterprises and influence the price of land and land usage.
Fazekas said the fund will manage about 2 million hectares of land, 1 million of which is used for farming. The fund will invite as a rule land lease tenders publicly.
Over HUF 5 million in land transactions will be published on the fund's website and a new land policy council will oversee deals of over HUF 100 million in value or 100 hectares in size. (MTI-ECONEWS)
