Foreign Minister meets NATO leaders in Brussels

Hungary has high prestige in the eyes of NATO leaders and they think very positively of Hungary's involvement in international affairs, Foreign Minister Kinga Göncz said in Brussels yesterday. On her introductory visit as Foreign Minister in Brussels, Göncz met NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and Assistant Secretary General for Operations Adam Kobieracki to discuss a range of issues including Afghanistan, the expansion of military cooperation and Kosovo. NATO leaders consider Hungary a very reliable ally, Göncz told the press. The fact that Hungary recently decided to take over leadership from a Dutch group in a provincial reconstruction team (PRT) in Afghanistan has further confirmed its prestige. (MTI, Népszava)
