The incoming Fidesz government plans to merge tax office APEH with the Customs and Excise Tax Office (VPOP), as well as radio and television oversight body ORTT with the National Telecommunications Office (NHH), according to press reports on Tuesday.
Daily Magyar Nemzet reported on the merger of APEH and VPOP. In addition to bringing the 15,000 APEH and 7,000 VPOP employees under one roof, Fidesz will re-establish a tax police, the paper said.
Online news source stop.hu said Hungary's next government would merge ORTT with NHH.
Neither report was confirmed by Fidesz, which won a two-thirds majority in the second round of Hungary's general elections on Sunday. (MTI-Econews)
