Fellegi to make rounds in Europe after return from US

Minister without portfolio Tamas Fellegi will travel to Germany on Monday and Tuesday for talks with European Central Bank governor Mario Draghi and Bundesbank governor Jens Weidmann, Mr Fellegi’s press office told MTI on Thursday, responding to a question.

National Bank of Hungary governor Andras Simor will participate at the talks, the press office said.

Mr Fellegi will also meet with German finance minister Wolfgang Schauble, top politicians in the government and German bank heads.

On January 19, Mr Fellegi will meet with Austrian central bank governor Ewald Nowotny and Austrian finance minister Maria Fekter in Vienna.

A meeting with European Commission vice president Olli Rehn in Brussels is on the agenda for January 20.

Mr Fellegi started talks with representatives of the International Monetary Fund in Washington on Monday and will meet with IMF managing director Christine Lagarde on Thursday.

Mr Fellegi is leading the Hungarian delegation at the talks with the IMF.

Hungary is seeking financial assistance from the IMF and the European Union as a precautionary measure that will allow the country to continue financing its debt on the market.
