Culture Minister András Bozóki met Odile Quintin, the newly appointed Director-General of the European Union's Education and Cultural Directorate, in Budapest on Tuesday, the Culture Ministry said in a statement. At the talks Bozóki pledged support to the EU's year-long program in 2008, promoting a dialogue among citizens of the member states. Discussions also centred on Hungary's "Europe's Cultural Capital 2010" title, which will be held by the south Hungarian city of Pécs along with a German city. The Director General said Hungary's proposals were noteworthy, since it mobilized the society as a whole by embracing local government, cultural experts and NGO-s, the ministry said.
