APEH checks for phony companies

State Tax Office (APEH) ordered the suspension of 616 company tax registration numbers as of January 31, 2007 - 383 of these came into effect already.

According to an amended law passed last summer, which aims at filtering out the bogus companies, APEH may suspend the tax registration number of any firm, without exception, which is proven to have a non-existent location, a non-existent CEO, or its CEO is not a registered taxpayer at APEH. The consequence of such decision is that no such company may claim any taxes back neither during the suspension period nor afterwards. (Gazdasági Rádió – Privátbankár)
