Trade unions plan national demo for June 16

Four union confederations plan to hold a national demonstration and "car-protest rally" on June 16, union representatives said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Autonomous Trade Union Association, the Trade Union Affiliation of Professionals, the Hungarian National Association of Trade Unions and the Cooperation Forum of Trade Unions said in the statement that they reject the government's measures to "burden workers, reduce their pay, change the Labor Code, eliminate early retirement and wind up the National Interest Coordination Council".

It said the unions and workers had vowed to hold protests in every district of Budapest and in the seats of four counties around the country, as well as driving their cars in protest rallies.
