Ronald Reagan statue unveiled in Budapest

Hungary unveiled a statue of former US President Ronald Reagan on Wednesday, honoring him for his role in helping to end communism.

Reagan was remembered for his role in “bringing the Cold War to a conclusion, and for the fact that Hungary regained its sovereignty in the process,” the Hungarian government said in a statement.

According to online news portal Index, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as well as former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice took part in the unveiling in Budapest’s Szabadság tér. Orbán said that Reagan’s example should energize Hungarians who still "have walls to break down".
