OTP Bank Rt will take over all of Euronet's 300 automatic teller machines (ATM) in Hungary from September 12, director of OTP Bank's bank card division Teréz Hargitai announced on Friday. Both OTP and Euronet declined to comment further on the transfer, citing business confidentiality. Hargitai said the transaction would bring OTP’s number of ATMs to 1,800, adding that Euronet's Hungarian unit will still take charge of the ATMs' maintenance. One hundred of the Euronet ATMs are in Budapest.
OTP’s turnover from bank cards was Ft 2,200 billion in 2005, 9% more than a year earlier, Hargitai said. There were 3,531 ATMs operating in Hungary in 2005, with combined turnover of Ft 3,271 billion.
