Gains by OTP Bank and MOL nearly lifted the BUX into the green at the end of the session on Thursday, but the bourse’s main index finished down 0.03% at 16,973.50.
OTP Bank advanced 1.50% to HUF 3,045 on turnover of HUF 7.5bn or about 71% of the HUF 10.6bn session total.
Oil and gas company MOL rose 0.28% to HUF 8,150 on turnover of HUF 2.0bn.
Drugmaker Richter fell 1.12% to HUF 34,500 on turnover of HUF 329m, and Magyar Telekom was down 1.00% at HUF 495 on turnover of HUF 372m.
The bourse’s mid-cap BUMIX index was down 1.31% at 1,356.61
Elsewhere in the region, Warsaw’s WIG 20 edged down 0.04% but the Prague PX was up 0.85%.
Western Europe’s biggest indices were mixed late Thursday. London’s FTSE 100 was down 0.42% and Frankfurt’s DAX slipped 0.42%, but the CAC 40 in Paris was up 0.38%.
