Government offices to accept electronic payment from June

Hungarians will soon be able to make payments electronically at government offices operated by local councils, thanks to a system installed by Getronics Magyarorszag and supported by some HUF 4 billion in European Union and state funding, Peter Kratochwill, who heads the Government IT Development Agency (KIFU), said at a press conference on Monday.

Citizens will be able to take advantage of the system from June 4, after a test run, Kratochwill said. Government offices are adopting the system on a continuous basis, he added.

The system is operated by the State Treasury and its financial service provider is OTP Bank.
