Forint weakens on interbank market

The forint weakened on Wednesday morning's interbank market, trading at 237.89 to the Swiss franc at 10:00 a.m., compared to a rate of 235.13 at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dealers attribute the forint's weakening to a further rise in risk-aversion among traders, noting, however, that the Hungarian currency has weakened more than the zloty, for example.

The forint also weakened to the euro and the US dollar on Wednesday morning, trading at 286.53 to the €and 209.81 to the USD at 10:00 a.m., compared to rates of 283.02 and 206.65, respectively, at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dealers note that the forint displayed unexpectedly weak resistance against the euro at the 285-mark.
