Forint strengthens on Greek bailout

The forint strengthened on Friday morning's interbank market, trading at 266.77 to the euro at 10:20 a.m., compared to a Thursday-afternoon rate of 267.46.

Dealers attribute the forint's strengthening to a decline in risk-aversion stemming from the announcement of a new debt-rescue package for Greece at the Thursday euro-zone summit meeting in Brussels.

The forint also strengthened against the US dollar and the Swiss franc on Friday morning, trading at 185.31 to the dollar and 224.84 to the franc at 10:20 a.m., compared to Thursday-afternoon rates of 185.90 and 227.30, respectively.
