The forint continued to strengthen on Thursday morning's interbank market, trading at 268.69 against the euro at 10:00 a.m., compared to a Wednesday-afternoon rate of 269.25.
The forint strengthened to under 270 against the euro for the first time since October on Wednesday.
Dealers say that forint rates are unlikely to fluctuate significantly until the European Central Bank's post-rate-decision press conference at 2:30 p.m., Central European Time. Dealers add that the Hungarian currency should remain at below 270 against its single European peer over the coming days if global market sentiment remains positive.
The forint traded at 194.99 to the dollar on Thursday morning, compared to a Wednesday-afternoon rate of 195.00. The forint traded at 207.10 to the Swiss franc on Thursday morning, compared to a Wednesday-afternoon rate of 208.45.
