ESMA board supervisors meet in Budapest

Hungarian financial market watchdog PSzÁF on Tuesday hosted a meeting of the Board of Supervisors of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) in Budapest.

ESMA is an independent EU Authority that contributes to safeguarding the stability of the European Union's financial system by ensuring the integrity, transparency, efficiency and orderly functioning of securities markets, as well as enhancing investor protection. ESMA started operating in January 2011.

The Board of Supervisors is composed of the heads of 27 national authorities, with one observer from the European Commission, a representative of European Banking Authority (EBA) and European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and one representative of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB).
