Egis Nyrt, the Hungarian drugmaker majority owned by France's Laboratoires Servier, said production was uninterrupted after the company lost as much as 3% of its capacity in a fire.
A fire at the main Egis Nyrt site in Budapest consumed about 150 square meters of floor space, burning up as much as 1,500 liters of solvents, methyl-cyclo-hexan and isopropyl alcohol, the company said in a statement to the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) today.
Nobody was injured. „With a bypass of the technological phase in question, the continuity of production has been ensured, no loss of production or disruption in shipments should be expected,” the company said in its statement.
The fire was started by a blast in the closed inside space of an industrial centrifuge, which damaged outlets and caused liquid to leak to the outside. The liquid then caught fire, Egis said. The cause of the explosion and the extent of damages is being investigated. Egis shares traded at Ft 23,690 at 11:26 in Budapest, down 1.9% from the close on March 2. (Bloomberg)
