The Budapest Stock Exchange BUX index closed Thursday trade up 2% at 21,928 as optimism among investors that Thursday's eurozone debt summit will produce a new aid package for Greece provided blue chip indices throughout Europe with a boost.
The BUX gained 423.74 points on a turnover of HUF 15.99 billion, fluctuating in a 2.9% range between an intraday low of 21,362 shortly after 12:30 pm and a high of 21,974 at 4:15 pm.
The four blue chip shares stood as follows at Thursday's closing bell:
OTP Bank jumped 3.3% to HUF 5,600 on a turnover of HUF 10.9 billion.
Oil and gas company MOL advanced 2.2% to HUF 20,450 on a turnover of HUF 3.7 billion.
Magyar Telekom rose 1.7% to HUF 553 on a turnover of HUF 445 million.
Drugmaker Richter was up 0.8% at HUF 37,400 on a turnover of HUF 581 million.
