BUX slides in late trade

The Budapest Stock Exchange blue-chip BUX index closed Wednesday trade down 0.7% to 18,001, slumping to its first loss of the week.

The BUX dropped 133 points on a light composite exchange turnover of HUF 8.42 billion, as a loss of over 300 points in the last half hour of the BSE's Wednesday session erased gains stemming from the publication of stronger-than-expected US July durable-orders data at 2:30 p.m., Central European Time.

The BUX fluctuated in a 1.9% range between an intraday high of 18,351 shortly after morning bell and a low of 18,001 at the index's closing mark.

The four blue chip stocks stood as follows at Wednesday's closing bell:

Oil and gas group MOL fell 2% to HUF 16,850 on a turnover of HUF 1.98 billion.

Drugmaker Richter dropped 1.26% to HUF 34,560 on a turnover of HUF 414 million.

OTP Bank finished unchanged at HUF 4,000 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 5.68 billion.

Magyar Telekom advanced 0.4% to HUF 502 on a light turnover of HUF 115 million.
