Forenoon loses from BSE heavyweight issuers OTP Bank and MOL dropped the Budapest Stock Exchange's blue-chip BUX index to a Tuesday-morning decline of 1.10% at 21,677.31.
The BUX commenced afternoon trade down 240.16 points on an active composite exchange turnover of HUF 8.16 billion.
BSE blue-chips, which account for more than 90% of the BUX index's point value, stood as follows at Tuesday noon:
OTP Bank was down 2.94% at HUF 4,760 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 8.87 billion;
Oil and natural gas company MOL was down 2.28% at HUF 20,130 on a turnover of HUF 497million;
Drug company Richter was up 1.35% at HUF 43,430 on a turnover of HUF 460 million;
Magyar Telekom was up 0.45% at HUF 663 on a turnover of HUF 205 million.
Major European blue-chip stock indices were in negative territory at midday, with London's FTSE-100 down 1.17% at 5,173.81 and Frankfurt's Xetra DAX down 1.02% at 5,949.39.
The BUX's central and eastern European high-cap peer indices were also lower at noon, with Prague's PX-50 down 1.19% at 1,166.10 and Warsaw's WIG-20 down 1.16% at 2,436.87. (MTI-ECONEWS)
