Budapest ranks 23rd on Cushman & Wakefield’s European Cities Monitor (ECM), down from 22nd last year.
London, Paris, Frankfurt and Barcelona have remained the top business locations in Europe, while in the Central European region Prague (14th), Warsaw (19th) fell back one place just as Budapest. ECM compares the performance of 33 European business cities based on several factors and through conducting interviews with senior managers and board directors of 500 top European companies.
Charles Taylor, head of C&W’s Hungarian branch, said that cost of staff is making Budapest less attractive (still 3rd, nonetheless). Worse are Budapest’s position in factors as qualified staff (29th), external transport links (33rd), telecommunications (32nd), and climate governments create (6th, down from 2nd last year).
