Double-counted share turnover on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) jumped 34% to HUF 1,231 billion in August from the same month a year earlier, the bourse said on Tuesday, based on data compiled from brokerages.
Share turnover on the bourse dropped 3.3% to HUF 6,786 billion in January-August from the same period a year earlier.
Spot market turnover on the share and securities market increased 30% to HUF 1,269 billion in August from the same month a year earlier.
Turnover of government bonds and treasury bills fell 43.3% to HUF 31.2 billion.
Investment fund unit and compensation coupon turnover slipped 13.7% to HUF 6.9 billion.
Turnover of mortgage bonds and corporate bonds rose to HUF 500m from HUF 187m.
The BSE's main BUX index closed at 19,390 on the last day of August, 12.2% higher than on the last day of June.
Erste Befektetési generated the most turnover in August, trading shares worth HUF 252 billion. The brokerage was followed by KBC Securities (HUF 242 billion), Cashline Értékpapír (HUF 102 billion), UniCredit Bank (HUF 100 billion) and Concorde Értékpapír (HUF 100 billion). In July, Erste, KBC and UniCredit took the top three spots. (MTI-Econews)
