Bookies see Europe stocks down on earnings concerns

Financial bookmakers expect to see the leading European benchmark indexes falling on Wednesday, tracking losses on Wall Street and in Asia on rising concerns over the corporate outlook and as commodity prices dropped.

Financial spreadbetters expected Britain’s FTSE 100 to open 5 to 30 points lower, or as much as 0.7%, Germany’s DAX to open 50 to 67 points lower, or as much as 1.4%, and France’s CAC-40 to open 35 to 43 points lower, or as much as 1.2%.

US crude oil futures fell nearly $3 a barrel to below $70 on Wednesday, on worries that output cuts by OPEC will not be enough to offset weakening energy demand, while London copper futures tumbled 3% to an almost three-year low, extending a near 5% overnight loss, as fears about global demand continued to weigh.
