The Austrian business agency ABA helped 201 foreign investors to set up businesses in Austria (compared to 152 in 2006).
Total invested asset was €394 million, representing a 70% increase compared to 2006. Most companies created are active in the services sector (116). The most important investor has remained Germany (82 projects), followed by Italy (22 investments). Hungary is the biggest investor from the Central Eastern/Southern Eastern European region, claiming 7 investments out of total 23. Four of these projects involve tourism, building on the trend that Austria is a popular destination for Hungarian tourists.
