The two-hour warning strike scheduled for Monday morning in Hungary's nuclear power plant in Paks has been called off but the strike alert remains in force, a trade union leader told MTI. Under the plant's internal rules and collective agreement, the strike has to be jointly recorded by the employer and the union in the journal of the engineer on duty. The employer, however, rejected to make this step and threatened to launch individual disciplinary proceedings against the strikers, Sándor Berkes, president of the MÉSZ union, said. The four unions demand a 10% basic pay rise plus a 5% annual raise to bring wages in line with the EU average. The management offered a 2% raise plus 2.5% in bonuses.
