Two more gas companies get license to trade on Hungarian market

EDF DEMASZ and WIEE Hungary have received authorization to sell gas on the Hungarian market from July 1, Vilaggazdasag reported Monday.

Ten new companies will enter the market in July, when the next gas contracts start. More than fourty companies are authorized to sell gas.

Electricity distributor EDF DEMASZ, a unit of Electricity de France, aims to sell gas to its electricity customers. The company has 760,000 corporate and retail clients.

WIEE Hungary is owned 50%-50% by Swiss company Wintershall Erdgas Handelshaus AG. Wintershall Erdgas Handelshaus AG is held by Wintershall AG, part of BASF group of Germany, and Russian gas giant Gazprom.
