Techcon Environment and Energy Kft laid the cornerstone of an Ft 8 billion rubber-fueled power plant in Polgár, northeast Hungary on Thursday.
Techcon will pay for 25% of the plant's cost and a loan from the state-owned Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) Zrt will cover the rest, Techcon managing director Zoltán Kovács said.
The plant is expected to start operating in June 2007. It will burn an annual 22,000 tons of old rubber to generate 45GWh of electricity.
