Russian authorities continue to support privately controlled Russian oil company Surgutneftegas in its dispute with Hungarian authorities regarding Surgutneftegas's purchase of a 21.2% stake in MOL last spring, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said in Moscow.
Shmatko said that Surgutneftegas's purchase of the stake in MOL conformed to European Union regulations, noting that Hungarian authorities had provided no documentation substantiating claims that the transaction was unlawful. (MTI – Econews)
