Germany's Ruhrgas can supply Hungary with a daily 2.5 million cubic meters of gas for the next ten days, Hungary's minister in charge of energy affairs Csaba Molnár said.
The gas, to be delivered through a pipeline in the West of the country, will raise the 51 million-cubic-meter volume that can be released daily from E.ON's commercial stores to 53.5 million cubic meters. If necessary, another 3 million cubic meters a day can be released from strategic reserves. Gas supply for households in Hungary is not in danger, he added.
Hungary has about 3 billion cubic meters of gas in commercial stores and 500 million cubic meters in a strategic reserve.
Hungary's gas deliveries from a line that enters the country from Austria were halved from 6 million cubic meters on Tuesday, and János Zsuga, who heads gas transmission company FGSz were likely to fall to just 1.5 million cubic meters on Wednesday. (MTI – Econews)
