Pintér Művek has won a tender worth HUF 2.5 billion to supply machinery and technology for the expansion of a temporary storage facility for spent fuel rods at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, Hungary's only such plant.
In the expansion, the plant will add four modules onto its existing 16-module storage unit.
A tender for the construction of the expansion was declared invalid after one of the three bidders in the tender submitted an invalid bid and another failed to supply missing information its bid.
A new tender has been called for which the deadline for bidding is October 12.
There are 5,977 spent fuel rods in the temporary storage unit. Another 90 will be added this year. (MTI – Econews)
