Partnership news fuel British Energy rates

British Energy shares rose as its chief executive revealed strong interest from potential partners to build new nuclear sites.

Bill Coley told a conference in London that more than ten companies “would like to partner us” in building new nuclear sites, including some from Europe which are not currently operating in the UK.

Evolution analyst Lakis Athanasiou said the level of interest had been announced before, but the fact that new European players were thinking of entering the market was surprising. The shares in British Energy added 20.5 pennies to 513 pennies, also boosted by broker Goldman Sachs, which increased its target price from 693 pennies to 709 pennies. (Scotsman)
