MOL Romania closed 2009 with profit of €17 million and retained its 11% market share, but fuel sales declined 5% from the previous year, the company said.
Revenue dropped 23% to €450 million, in euro terms, mainly because of the weakening of the leu. The Romanian fuel market as a whole also shrank.
Fleet card sales were down 10% because of the crisis, but MOL Romania's wholesale, petrochemicals and lubricants segments recorded modest growth.
MOL opened four new petrol stations in 2009, it introduced a computer-controlled tanker filling system at its fuel storage facility and it renovated twenty filling stations. This year, MOL plans to renovate a further fifty filling stations in Romania. (MTI – Econews)
