Turkmenistan will hire an international company to audit its biggest oil and gas fields this year in the southeast of Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan, the second-largest gas producer among the former Soviet republics, hasn’t had a full, independent audit of its reserves, the Paris-based IEA said – reported Bloomberg. As Turkmenistan.ru has learnt from Turkmengeologiya state corporation, Turkmenistan is currently holding talks with one international company on the audit of these deposits. As was reported earlier, Turkmenistan is going to audit its largest deposits in 2008 as well as to have an overall assessment of all hydrocarbon reserves in the country. It should be recalled that the last international audit of some oil and gas deposits was conducted in Turkmenistan in 2004. At that time, the US consulting company DeGolyer & MacNaughton audited Turkmenistan’s largest Dovletabat gas deposit, and UK’s Gaffney, Cline & Associates Ltd company certified the reserves of a number of deposits in the east of Turkmenistan.
