Gas prices for households and small consumers with “universal service provider” contracts will have to rise by well over 20% in July if they do not increase from April 1, István Kutas, spokesman for utilities company E.ON Hungária, said when asked by MTI on Friday.
A price increase of HUF 16-17 per cubic metre of gas would be justified from April, it was revealed at a presentation to journalists by the Hungarian Energy Office (MEH) on Thursday.
Universal service providers - who charge clients a fixed price for gas for a certain period of time, thus mitigating exposure to market forces - have until March 5 to submit proposals for price changes to MEH. The office has 20 days after that to decide on price changes to be introduced from April 1. (MTI-ECONEWS)
