Household electricity prices to drop about 5% from July

Household electricity prices are set to fall about 5% from July 1, daily Magyar Nemzet reported on Thursday, citing market sources.

Power suppliers with "universal service provider" status - who charge clients a fixed price for electricity for a certain period of time, thus mitigating exposure to market forces - are expected to lower prices by 4%-6% from July 1, the paper said.

The suppliers asked by Magyar Nemzet would not disclose any concrete figures pending a decision on price changes by the Hungarian Energy Office (MEH), but the Hungarian unit of E.ON confirmed it would lower its prices from July. (MTI-ECONEWS)
