Hungary’s government plans to raise the retail price of gas for households by 9.8% and for industrial users by 12% from October, daily Népszabadság said in its Thursday issue.
The price hike has to be announced a month before it takes effect, that is by September 1. Though the increase is below the 11% and 13.7% hikes reportedly proposed by the national energy office, the total money earmarked for compensation to needy families will not be raised, which means, that they may be paying over 10% more for their gas consumption in the future, the paper said.
In January next year there may be further gas-price hikes, the paper added, without naming its source. The price of gas has been raised three times this year. (MTI-Econews)
