Government to control power producer prices

Hungary will regulate the price of electricity power plants charge state-owned wholesaler MVM Rt, according to a recent legislation passed by Parliament. The change is aimed at controlling energy prices in power purchase agreements between power plants and MVM. According to such agreements, MVM must buy a fixed quantity of power at a fixed price, guaranteeing a return on investment for generators. The introduction of regulated prices will not affect the retail price of electricity, as power plant managers announced.
