Gazprom output may fall 18% in 2009

Russia's Gazprom faces a drop in natural gas output of up to 18% this year, or 450 billion cubic meters, the deputy head of the gas export monopoly, Alexander Ananenkov, said, Interfax reported.

Gas production at the state-controlled firm fell by more than a quarter last month to the lowest level in a decade in response to plummeting demand in Europe. (Reuters)
