The European Union will need more nuclear power plants to meet its targets for cutting greenhouse-gas emissions, French Finance Minister Thierry Breton said.Leaders of the European Union agreed last week in Brussels to reduce emissions 20% by 2020 from 1990 levels, setting goals for energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources including wind and solar power. „To do it, there's need to develop nuclear power, too,” Breton said in an interview on BFM French radio station today. „Obviously France, thanks to the important development of its nuclear plants, is already meeting the EU's goal.„ (Bloomberg)
