E.ON says profit outlook less certain than ever

Germany's EON, the world's second-largest utility, said its predictions for the company's 2009 earnings are less certain than in previous years due to the global economic crisis.

“The outlook for 2009 is burdened with insecurities to a much higher extent than in previous years,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday. E.ON's shares were indicated more than 4% lower ahead of the market opening in Frankfurt, while the DAX top-30 index looked set to open 0.2% lower on Tuesday, according to pre-market data from brokers.
