Energie Lyonnaise buys Hungarian wind power company

French Energie Lyonnaise SA has purchased a 96.67% stake in Pannon Wind Power Plant Kft, which plans to build a wind power plant in Bábolna, northwest Hungary, business daily Napi Gazdaság said, citing Pannon Managing Director Bálint Szécsényi.

The €22 million investment, which will include build seven wind power units with a combined capacity of 15 MW, may start this summer on the 100-hectare site, Szécsényi said. The company will receive the operation permit from the Hungarian Energy Office in May.
Currently only 0.8% of Hungary's energy consumption comes from renewable sources, but Hungary must increase this figure to 3.6% by 2010 according to an EU guideline.
