Coca-Cola Beverages (Hungary), the local unit of The Coca Cola Company, put into operation a new Ft 2.26 billion combined heat and power generator at its bottling plant in Dunaharaszti, south of Budapest on Thursday, the company announced on Friday.
The gas-powered generator, installed by Greenergy Energy Systems Kft, has a capacity of 9.1 MW of electricity and 8.02 MW of heat. The generator meets the plant's entire demand for heat and cooling energy and will reduce the plant's energy costs 40% in the long term, the company said. As it is built at the site of the plant, network losses will be cut 10%. The generator has its own gas storage facility, securing uninterrupted operation. The generator will also reduce the plant's CO2 emissions by 38%.
