Calamites to offer alternative energy made from gasified coal

The Pécs-based Calamites Kft is to provide alternative energy for the south Hungarian region by producing and gasifying coal through restarting exploitation in the south Hungarian hill of Mecsek.

The first Ft 5 billion project is to start at the northern foot of the hill near Nagymányok in the second half of 2007, said the managing director József Verbőci. The project includes the exploitation of an estimated total 2.5 million ton coal resource near the surface with producing 100,000 tons per year, building an environment friendly gasifying plant and a 37-40 MW capacity power plant.
