The average unemployment rate in Hungary was 8.0% in October-December 2008, up from 7.8% in September-November, and up 0.3%age point from the same three-month period a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.
The figures are for the 15-74 age group.
The average number of unemployed was 337,100 in the 15-74 age group in the three-month period, up 7,500 from September-November. The number of unemployed rose 9,300 in one year.
The average number of employed in the 15-74 age group was 3.881 million in October-December 2008, down 27,000 from September-November and down 28,700 in one year.
According to harmonized figures compiled by Eurostat, Hungary's unemployment rate was 8.3% in November, compared to 7.4% in the EU-15 and 7.2% in EU-27 during the month. (MTI – Econews)
