Hungary's trade deficit was €2.839 billion in 2005, €1.075 billion less than in the previous year and up €55 million from a preliminary €2.784 billion deficit reported on February 9, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Friday.
Exports in 2005 totaled €49.721 billion, up 11.4% from 2004 and revised up €178 million from the preliminary figure. 2005 imports, at €52.56 billion, rose 8.3% year-on-year and were revised up €232 million. In volume terms, exports rose 10.8% and imports rose 5.3% last year. Forint-term export prices fell 0.8% and import prices increased 1.4% from 2004, resulting in a more than 2% deterioration in Hungary's terms of trade.
