Switzerland could give the International Monetary Fund a maximum loan of $10 billion as part of the extra $500 to be added to the IMF’s resources, President Hans-Rudolf Merz was quoted as saying on Sunday.
President Hans-Rudolf Merz was quoted as saying on Sunday. “I assume that Switzerland could grant an additional loan of a maximum of $10 billion. The loan will be provided by the Swiss National Bank and guaranteed by the state,” Merz said in an interview with Swiss newspaper NZZ am Sonntag.
Merz said Switzerland was particularly dependent on the stability of the international financial system as its economy is export driven. (Reuters)
