Slovak inflation eases in March

Slovakia’s EU harmonized inflation slowed to 1.9% in March from 2.2% in February, the Bratislava-based Statistical Office said Tuesday. The slowdown reflects decreases in inflation of food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as alcoholic beverages and tobacco to 3.4% and 2%, respectively. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear cost increased at a faster pace of 1.7%. Housing and utility costs climbed 0.8%. Transportation cost fell 0.6%. On a monthly basis, the harmonized index of consumer prices remained flat.
