The number of foreign visitors to Romania registered at border checkpoints stood at 535,900 people in April, up 20.1% against April 2006, with the majority, i.e. over 94.5% originating from European countries.
Out of the total foreign visitors, 58.7% came from states in the European Union, according to the data supplied by the National Statistics Institute (INS) yesterday. Compared with April 2006, the number of arrivals and nights spent in hospitality facilities rose by 21.4% and 24% respectively. The number of arrivals at hospitality facilities in April stood at a total of 484,000, up 21.4% against April 2006, 76.2% of which were Romanian nationals. (zf.ro)
